What to Do in New Orleans During the Holidays
Forget the milk and cookies and put out the beignets and café au lait! It is the holiday season in New Orleans! We love it here in New Orleans for many reasons, but the holidays give us even more when the city transforms into an illuminated oasis of festivities and the display of traditions is rich and glorious.
There’s nothing like the holidays in New Orleans. Nothing. From the French Quarter dressed in holiday finery to the Christmas Eve Bonfires that light the way for Papa Noel, holidays remind us of every reason we are proud to call New Orleans our home. Here are just a few of our favorite events you can join in New Orleans during the holidays.
Holiday Parades
You know how we love our Christmas parades! We enjoy walking around downtown and seeing the array of larger-than-life floats that can’t help but bring the Christmas spirit out of us! We look forward to seeing you all at Jingle on the Boulevard!
Celebration in the Oaks
One of our favorite parts of the holiday season is seeing our beloved Oak Trees decorated and lit up. It really makes City Park such a special part of our city. If you haven’t been already, head over to the New Orleans Botanical Gardens and take in the experience of a tropical rainforest, waterfall, and 2000, different variants of plant species.
Reveillon Dinners
We know this city begins and ends with food! Taking place in Reveillon dinners and cocktails has made a Creole out of all of us. This century-long tradition is one that is dear to our hearts. If you’re planning on heading to the old French Quarter At 2 AM Christmas Eve, we suggest you reserve tables if need be, or ask for the modified menus before you attend. That way you can plan accordingly and make the dinner stress free and eventful!
LUNA Fete
It is all the buzz right now in New Orleans. Everyone we talk to is asking us if we are going to LUNA Fete this holiday. If you’re interested in going this year, it takes place December 15-18 2022, from 6 pm. to 10 pm. The eye-popping high-tech installations brought over 100 thousand people last year, so be prepared for the traffic and crowds!
